Pittsburgh has some of the Country’s Best Cupcakes

dozensthreecupcakes

MSN’s City Guide published a list of the country’s best cupcakes. Local cupcake shop Dozen has the honor of making the list and East End Brewery has received recognition for their contributions to Dozen’s East End Chocolate Stout cupcake.

MSN said this about Dozen:

Pittsburgh
East End Chocolate Stout (Dark chocolate cake made with East End Brewing Co.’s Black Strap Stout, covered with dark chocolate ganache and topped with Irish cream buttercream)
“The East End Chocolate Stout is a total Pittsburgh favorite,” promises Michelle Horton, general manager of Pittsburgh’s popular Dozen Cupcakes bakeshop. The cupcake’s dark chocolate batter is infused with a molasses stout beer from Pittsburgh’s East End Brewery; the cake is then dipped in dark chocolate ganache, sprinkled with dark cocoa powder, and finished with an Irish Cream buttercream. “The idea for the Stout cupcake was sparked by the bitter-sweet-chocolaty-richness of the East End Brewery’s Black Strap Stout,” Horton explains. “It even looks like a beer, with the Irish Cream buttercream symbolizing the lighter colored foam on top.”

Last year we mentioned the growth of Cupcakes shops, including Dozen in Pittsburgh.

PBS cutting airings of Mister Rogers’

fredrogers

The Post-Gazette reported today that many PBS stations are cutting airings of Mister Rogers’. This is a tragic news because for 30+ years Mister Rogers’ has been teaching excellent morals to children throughout the world. PG also stated that the station is looking for a successor series to Mister Rogers’, that hopefully can promote the same morals Fred Rogers once taught.

Twitter poster tinybuddha posted a quote from Mr. Rogers,
“know that there is something deep inside, that helps us become what we can”

The clip is taken from a video (posted below) of Mr. Rogers fighting the government in 1969 for more funding for educational programs that help produce the best within children.
