Robot Hides Cold Metal Body; Dances Into Our Hearts

Keep On Robot

A simple yellow robot built by a Japanese research scientist has been transformed into a YouTube star by Marek Michalowski, a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute. In the video Keepon, the robot, dances to “I Turn My Camera On.” It has been viewed 1.6 million times.

The goal is to create robots to interact with children. “Keepon’s simple appearance makes children comfortable, and its lifelike movement makes it attractive to them,” says Marek. The Post-Gazette has more on this alarmingly cute development.
