Brewers Ball

The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis foundation will be holding their first annual Brewers Ball on April 4th from 6pm-11pm at the I.B.E.W Circuit Center on South Side. The event will be filled with microbrewed beer, music, and appetizers. The goal of the event is to raise $35,000 through auctions that will be occurring throughout the night. The event should be a great time as you help a good cause and experience microbrewed beers.

Happy Birthday iJustine

Local lifecaster iJustine is HUGE on the internet, so huge she has proclaimed herself as the internet. It has became hard not to find her face on websites, not that we are complaining she is a beautiful girl.

Yesterday (March 20th) she celebrated her 24th birthday, and got birthday wishes throughout the net. iJustine has posted a thank you as well as a wrap-up on all the craziness that was involved with her birthday and the net.

Some noted iJustine media has been her iPhone bill, which begain conserversy about the thickness of the bill. She is also now featured with AE’s spring break campaign.

Iron City Beer’s Grand Comeback!

Iron City beer has been brewing for almost 150 years, and this year will mark a new campaign from Iron City to gain national popularity. Blog Drink Iron City has been keeping up with Iron City’s move to change the way they do business. One of the changes that will be noticed is the new packaging for all Iron City products. There is also new partnerships with local businesses to have easier access to Iron City beer, so expect Iron City at all of your favorite bars. The new campaign is a contribution with Pittsburgh 250.

Now all that is needed is a new Iron City website!

The Pittsburgh online boutique ModCloth was recently mentioned in Pop City. The company, which was founded by two graduates of CMU, started the business selling retro-inspired clothing as a hobby. Thanks to technological aids they’ve been very successful, and today they’re looking to expand and hire more employees.

Street fashion magazine Hypebeast posted an article today about CMU’s offering of a Sneakerology course. The course focuses on the roots of sneaker culture and the influences that have changed the way sneakers are perceived in the world. To study sneakers, the course refers to sneaker websites and the book Where’d You Get Those. The course offers a midterm of designing your own sneakers incorporating the trends and knowledge learned throughout course.

FIRST Robotics Competition On Friday

Back in February I mentioned FIRST robotics — a youth robotics competition aimed at promoting engineering and science fields. The six weeks of intense robot building are over and the Pittsburgh regional will be held this weekend. The fun starts Thursday (March 15th), continues on Friday, and then concludes with a tournament and awards ceremony on Sunday. Taking place in the Petersen Events Center, the event is free and open to the public.

Neighborhood Pride and Cupcakes

Coco’s Cupcakes will be hosting a neighborhood pride event tomorrow; Friday, March 6th. Coco’s will be preparing cupcakes that will represent many of the neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, each having a unique taste to the neighborhood.

The event is in partnership with Neighbor Teaze, t-shirts that represent many of the Pittsburgh neighborhoods (more coming soon from them) with the name of the neighborhood and a reference relating to that neighborhood. Check them out today and represent your neighborhood!
